Welcome to the beta web version of the future under development. Our next version will challenge America for this site to be accessible, which it clearly is not. The hearing impaired can’t hear it, the visually impaired can’t see it, and the communication impaired can only remain silent. It is our goal to have 1,000 voices released in a truly accessible website to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the American with Disabilities Act of 1990 on July 26, 2010. Any assistance you may offer to support this goal will be be eternally appreciated. This is an opportunity for people who live with, around, and for a disability to come together as the most diverse family on earth to share their experiences through story. Both “Old” and “New”. This travel blog was created on September 15, 2008 to share our goals with you until I return home in October of 2009 with 1,000 voices from across America. We are currently on a one year journey of America adding new voices and images to the DMI archives that currently house over 955 video portraits and 4,000 images. After 18 months of interviews and another 18 months of organizing, 548 voices are ready to be transcribed, encoded, and engineered into an accessible website that truly will free our voice. We look forward to reuniting with all of you who have taken the time to contribute your insights, experiences, and lessons of living with a disability in America through the past six decades. The time has come for our stories to be heard, shaped, and told using the technology of today for the minds of tomorrow.

Why is this so important?
